Joan is a certified Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) and Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing (CSTD) teacher. A strong believer of lifelong learning, Ms Joan constantly seeks to upgrade and improve her skills. She is a certified trainer for the Progressing Ballet Technique Programme and has also completed the “Inspire series” – a professional development programme by The Royal Ballet School.
With 16 years of teaching experience, Joan is a firm but passionate and caring teacher and her students are known to be very well-behaved, disciplined and passionate about dancing. Her students from Primary to Advanced 1 have achieved 100% pass with 98% Merit and Distinctions. As Head of RAD Exam program at City Ballet Academy, she oversees the students’ progress, provides supporting training material for the faculty and is in charge of teachers’ training with her in depth knowledge for the exam syllabus.
Joan’s students have consistently achieved top placings in prestigious local and overseas competitions in solo, duo and group dances in Classical Ballet, Lyrical, Demi-Character and Contemporary Dance. These include:
Joan also coaches and prepares students for the Direct School Admission (DSA) Programme through dance. Many of her students have gained admission into prestigious schools such as School of the Arts Singapore (SOTA), Dunman High School, Singapore Chinese Girls’ School, Tanjong Katong Girls School and more.
